Moviefone: 'War of the Worlds': Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg Unscripted

Moviefone: 'War of the Worlds': Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg Unscripted

This is one of the best made-for-internet things I've ever seen.

Shockingly good, actually.

Lots of fun.

  1. This is really quite good...you're right. It's shockingly good because lately Tom Cruise has been such a toolbox on all his media outings. He probably just needs Spielberg at his side at all times!

All the Cruise blathering lately really makes me wonder. . .he goes on and on about how Psychiatry is a pseudo-science. . .and yet the name of his church, Scientology, seems to say they are a science when in fact they have plenty of wacked out beliefs and pseudoscience on their own (as I imagine the church of your youth Christian Science, does...). I guess in that church, though, the Science is in the Christianity, not the medicine.

  2. In the interview, Spielburg says his number one concern is storytelling and he cares much more about that than camera moves.

Well, I just watched War of the Worlds and it has one of the greatest camera moves of all time.

Without giving anything away, it is a several minute shot where Tom et.al. are driving in a minivan and the camera swoops around. What sells the shot is what you can see outside of the car.

    Really amazing.
